Senior Partner – Robin Aston
Employment Law Background and Experience
Robin was admitted as a solicitor in 1973 and was then immediately appointed as Head of Employment Law for Shell-Mex and BP Ltd. In that capacity, he advised line managers on the employment law implications of organisational restructures and change management, as well as handling some of the first UK unfair dismissal cases.
He then moved to Shell Group as a Senior Employee Relations Manager, and was responsible formulating and implementing many aspects of employee relations, including personnel policies and job evaluation. During this time, he acted as the chief negotiator in both national and local pay negotiations with trade unions.
In 1989, having gained his Masters Degree in Labour Law, he then set up a sole practice specialising in employment law. Although based in London, Robin’s client portfolio quickly grew both geographically and across many industries, and soon included hotel and catering, leisure, food manufacturing, construction and retail.
Since then, under Robin’s leadership, Astons has grown to be a niche team of experienced employment law specialists who represent and advise on cases across the UK. He still gives advice on all aspects of employment law. And in addition to this, he also regularly acts as an advocate at employment tribunals throughout the UK.
